Artist Statement
My
concepts focus on knowledge
lost throughout history as the unwritten oral narratives observed
though my
experiences in the everyday. These ‘gems’ are
passed down,
a narrative which
provides deeper meaning in our lives. My intentions are to tell a
story, not
the kind that is dogmatic or provocative as with newspapers or internet
but to
tell it through archetypes and symbolism much the same as oral story
telling.
My desire is to allow the audience to move within the landscape, in doing so their own memories and experiences are encouraged and explored. Thus making their stories and experiences intertwine and enriching the installation.
